1. General Health and Safety

dodgy

To keep everyone as safe as possible within the engineering environment we must adhere to current Health and safety legislation.

2. Manual handling

manual handling

In the engineering environment it is important to carry out manual handling activities at some point. To avoid injury to the people carry out these activities we must do them correctly to prevent injury.

You must carry out a practical manual handling assessment, which will require you to carry out a manual handling risk assessment and a route plan at a later date in centre.

Please look at the two video clips to help you understand the principles behind good manual handling.

3. COSHH

COSHH

In the engineering environment there are many products such as chemicals, oils, greases, and other materials that can cause us harm if we are not using them in a corret manner or protecting ourselves from adverse effect they cause. This unit will cover the current legislation on Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).

This will cover material safety data sheets (MSDR), CLP regulations, COSHH assessments and how to use and store COSHH items correctly.

4. PPE essentials
